painting to show

Thought I'd have a little catch up and show you what I've been working on...

These two new oil paintings represent a change in progress for me.  The first is how I've been working for a while but the second I feel like I've breached something else.  Maybe it's the more intimate position of viewer to the environment, closer and more textural.  What ever it is that is different I feel like I'm much happier with this work than anything I've done for a long time.

This next week I'm going to go back to making some textured silk shawl/scarf lengths, so lots of fun dyeing.

Hope all is well in blog world and you are happy with your snow fall ;)

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful. The second one feels a lot looser? It has a lot of movement in it as well as texture. You must be very pleased!

Great work, Helen, I love the atmosphere in the top one, you've given it so much movement and wonderful colours.

Oh Helen,
Once again you take my breath away! I thought Constable and then I thought no not at all that's a Turner sky. The drama and you didn't even have to add a burning ship, lol. What else can I say, you have not only mastered your medium completely but your subject is under your spell too! Keep Warm up there, Regards Tricia x

I love both of them Helen. I would find it very hard to choose but as you say... they are very different.
